Rauw Alejandro
Despacito was a track from the year 2017 made by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the single that became the most streamed track worldwide within just the space of six months. This mix of reggaeton and pop music not only brought interest back to this genre but also to Latin music as a whole. In 2015, there were two mostly Spanish-language songs on Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. In the midst of Despacito's fame in 2017, there were 19 mainly Spanish songs that were included in the Top 100. Then in 2020 the number was 41. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish-language version in 2017 shortly after which popular artists began working with reggaeton acts. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to produce MIA (2018) as well as Madonna collaborated on Medellin with Maluma (2019). The year 2000 saw a number of reggaeton performers were lamenting its inclination towards mainstream, but a new generation of performers, including Rauw Alejandro, aimed to continue the evolution of reggaeton. The incorporation of elements from electronic dance music and various other genres was a typical procedure.
